Group fit

Small matched groups

I consider your pooch's personality, size, behaviours and location, then match them with playmates I think they will love.

Availability

Up to 6 dogs

Groups are kept small, usually 4 to 6 dogs. Individual walks are currently not offered. House calls and transport are by arrangement.

Not sure whether a group walk suits your dog? I like to meet your dog first where practical, or arrange a phone chat so we can talk through personality, history, commands and recall.

About Alexia

A small local walking service run by Alexia

Hi there, I run Walking the Dog to give your furry pal exercise, mental stimulation and socialisation on days when you cannot.

I know it is a big deal to trust someone with your pooch, so I keep the service personal. I want dogs to feel comfortable coming out with me before they join a group adventure.

When it is not practical to meet face to face, we can arrange a time to chat on the phone and talk through what your dog needs.

How it works

How I match each dog with the right walking group

Each adventure starts with fit. I learn about your dog, match the group thoughtfully, collect them from home, then share updates so you can see what they have been up to.

1

Meet first where practical

I like to meet your dog before our first walk so they feel comfortable coming out with me. You can tell me about their personality, history, known commands and recall.

2

Build the right group

I schedule dogs into group sessions based on their personalities and locations, with small groups that suit the dogs in them.

3

Pick up, adventure, drop off

I collect your dog from home, take them on a one-hour adventure in off-leash parks or areas, and return them home afterwards.

4

Share the adventure

I post to Instagram so you can see what your pup has been up to after their walk.

Good group fit

Is a group adventure right for your dog?

Most walks are largely off-leash in local parks around other dogs, dog owners and people, so these details help keep the group comfortable.

Where do you pick up?

I pick up dogs primarily within about 10 minutes drive from Brunswick. Most clients are in Brunswick, Brunswick West or Brunswick East. If you are nearby but not quite inside that area, contact me and we can talk through options.

Does my dog need to be trained?

Your dog does not need to be completely trained, but they do need some basic obedience and social skills for off-leash group walks.

Useful skills for the group

  • Off-leash recall, so they return on command.
  • Walking well on leash, with no extreme pulling.
  • Basic dog socialisation manners, including greeting other dogs nicely.
  • Basic human interaction manners, such as minimal jumping up on people.

Do you offer individual walks?

Individual walks are currently not offered. The main service is Group Adventure Walks.

What about house calls or transport?

House calls and transport are by arrangement. Send an enquiry or call me if you want to ask what is possible.
